На самом деле, альбомов еще больше. Книга «1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die» впервые была составлена британским писателем и издателем Робертом Даймери в 2005 году. Последняя обновленная версия вышла этим летом и в нее вошли альбомы, вплоть до 2017 года, теперь до смерти надо успеть прослушать на 77 альбомов больше!

Список, конечно, вызывает множество вопросов. В него включены только представители разных направлений популярной музыки, начиная с 1955 года. Очень мало джаза. Классическая и современная академическая музыка исключены полностью.

Кроме того, сильно режет глаз преобладание англосаксов. Конечно, тут есть о чем спорить, но по мнению автора книги, можно прожить жизнь так ни разу и не услышав Челентано, Далиду, или Егора Летова…

Впрочем, картина становления современной популярной музыки в США и Британии показана масштабно и подробно.
